Analysis Of Thomas Paines Common Sense - 856 Words

During the time period that Thomas Paine wrote â€Å"Common Sense†, the country was debating whether or not they should separate from their ruling country, Great Britain. Throughout this piece, Paine uses several persuasive strategies including metaphor and pathos, in order to prove to his audience that they should separate from Britain. Paine uses both of these literary elements to prove that the country will, in fact, be successful if they separate, making it a successful propaganda tool. In his writing, Paine uses metaphors in order to convince the people of America, that separating from their mother country will prove to be beneficial for them. Within the first few paragraphs of his piece, Paine includes the quote, â€Å"We may as well assert,†¦show more content†¦Through the use of this comparison, Paine is able to show how Europe is similar to a monster, whose cruelty has chased people away from their home country. Through this phrase, Paine is able to convey his argument of how people escaped from Europe because of the unjust treatment and shouldn’t have to put up with it in America. Paine’s use of metaphors as a persuasive element helps make it an effective piece of propaganda since it uses comparisons to convince readers that separation would be a progressive step forward for America. Another persuasive element that Paine uses to express the benefit of separation is pathos. Through his use of pathos, he is able to show the audience of how much others have suffered due to the unjust treatment that the colonies are receiving from Great Britain. One example of his use of pathos is â€Å"If you have not, then you are not a judge to those who have. But if you have, and can still shake hands with the murderers, then you are unworthy of the name husband, father, friend, or lover, and whatever may be your rank or title in life, you have the heart of a coward, and the spirit of a sycophant†(3). Through this phrase, Paine is able to make the audience sympathize with those who have been hurt by the cruelty of Britain. Paine is convincing his readers that regardless of who they are, they owe it to those who have suffered, to separate from Britain. Sample details Pages: 3 Words: 877 Downloads: 10 Date added: 2019/07/01 Category Philosophy Essay Level High school Topics: Confucianism Essay Did you like this example? A philosopher, political figure, teacher, and forefather of the Ru School of Chinese thought, Confucius, also named Master Kong, was a fifth-century BCE Chinese thinker who influenced all of East Asia as becoming a culturally symbolic figure. Born in the city of Lu, present-day Qufu, in 551 BCE-479 BCE, Confucius was raised by a single mother. Growing up, Confucius lived his life with a broad set of competencies. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Confucius Lived In An Era" essay for you Create order He studied music and history, also, learned hunting, fishing, and archery (Arnold). Confucius grew to become a well- known philosopher whose teachings were recorded and persevered in a text called the Analects (a collection of his sayings). He formed the foundation of how the ideal human should be education and compassion for ones community and should live life in order to seek self-development, through important virtues, Jen and Li. Unpretentiously, Confucius states that he loves to learn and is a transmitter of wisdom from the ancient past ( Riegal, Confucius). He sees himself as a regular individual. Furthermore, Confucius lived in an era where the political frenzy in the government left society corrupt. Confucius believed that chaos and disorder were caused by the mistreatment and abuse of propriety. The time was one of political dissolution in which the unity of the Chou dynasty was eroded and small state conflict was dominant (Arnold, Confucius, and Confucianism). He ventured a life-long practice to restore the value of customs and to broadcast the rules of morality. In order to do so, one must set out to restore the community in which they live in and educate themselves to be a better human being. Confucius is shown using his method as he began his career as a teacher in his 20s. His teachings included history, poetry, divination, government, ethics, and music. From then on out, he became one of the greatest teachers of history. Later on in his career, he sought to be in public office. He started as a chief justice of the town of Chung-Tu. At the age of fifty, he worked as the post assistant administrator of public works and next transitioning as the Minster of Crime in Lu. After being forced to retire, due to jealousy, for the next twelve to thirteen years he sought after a new position with his faithful disciples by his side. Eventually, he found a new position and worked as an advisor for the Duke of Ai. By the age of seventy-three, Confucius had died, but his teachings had spread throughout East Asia and Chinese culture. To continue, the value of education plays a very important role in the philosophy of Confucianism. A man who educates themselves severs as a better contribution to society, therefore ties into the fact that one can better the community and prosper in self-development. Education aids as a key to self-development to eventually become a better civil servant to society. When a society is uneducated, the fundamental quality of peoples spirits and mood breaks down. Thus concludes with people becoming full of hate, uncaring, disrespectful and chaos can spread like a disease throughout the community. Confucianism is categorized as a system of social and ethical philosophy. Confucius stray away from this philosophy being named a religion. He doesnt refer to gods of any kind, or the concept of Heaven or Hell, nor the idea of reincarnation, compared to other religions. Nonetheless, Confucius was careful to instruct his students to never neglect or disrespect the offering due in heaven, and the Gods of other religions. Although he did not believe in them, he still gave them the utmost respect. Confucius focuses more on the changing of oneself by self-development, and from that, can improve the world in a better way. The goal of this philosophy is to alter into a better human, seeking harmony with nature, and involves cultivating a sense of ritual and becoming an educated man. Moreover, Confucianism has two virtues which can benefit from becoming the ultimate goal of Confucian: the superior man. Confucianism has a set of virtues one must follow Li and Jen. Li is described as social respectability and is the greatest principle of living. Li may also be specified as the middle way in all things. If and when a community lives by Li it runs easily and will prosper into a better community, filled with the better education system, a lower poverty and crime rate, and a stable and trustworthy government. Li is also demonstrated by the Five Relationships: magnanimity in our rulers, devotion in ministers and subjects, compassionate consideration in our elders, benevolence for our fathers, moral behavior in the husband, submission in the wife, courtesy of the eldest brother, respect in the younger, and admiration in juniors and loving goodness in the son. Some examples of Li would be using proper manners at a meal, having a certain respect for those who are older than you, and greeting someone in higher power with a bow. Jen is defined as altruism or Shu. This is helping others for merely the fact that you are helping and not to gain anything for ourselves. Jen is involving empathy, conscientiousness, selflessness. An example of Jen is living life with human-heartedness doing nice things out of the goodness of your heart rather than expecting something in return.

Thomas Edison was careless of other people around him and only caring about himself, his inventions, and money. An Economic Case for Batteries for Energy Storage in Australia

Question: Describe an Economic Case for Batteries for Energy Storage in Australia? Answer: Introduction It has been identified that Australia has untapped renewable energy resources, sparse population and peaky demand profile. Therefore, energy department of Australia understands that continuing in generating path of traditional power and augmentation of system will be more expensive. [5] argued that storage industry or sector of Australia need to increase and achieve the best way in terms of growing. This report mainly discussed the economic case for batteries for energy storage that allows proponents of storage. Apart from that, this report considers the broader understanding of energy industry of Australia such as demand for energy storage in Australia, economic case for meet the demand for batteries for energy storage, etc. 1. Energy Storage sector of Australia with reference to other countries In Australia, supply of electricity divided into four different ways such as transmission, generation, retail and distribution, whereas other countries supply their electricity in three different ways such as generation, transmission and distribution. However, majority of country in this world focus on providing electricity supply through coal or other related materials, but Australia increase their resources of supplying power all part of the country via renewable resources such as solar, hydro, wind, etc. [2] opined that majority of countries generated their electricity through the burning fossils such as oil, gas, coal, etc. Australia is also one of the countries that used burning fossils for supply of power at large scale power stations conventionally. Figure 1: Forecast of Commercial market for energy storage in Australia (Source: [8]) According to the government of Australia, the generators of power supply such as wind, solar, hydro and the fuel of Australia are located a long way. Therefore, moving of these electricity resources across the long distance government has to invest more capital for transmission of network in order to deliver the electricity in the demand centres. In order to reduce this limitation, government of Australia implement smaller scale distribution network in terms of supplying energy to the residential, commercial as well as industrials. Energy of electric is not able to store in the network [11]. Therefore, Australia uses batteries for energy storage. Apart from that, using pipes, government of Australia stored gas or water energy resources in the network. In Australia, storage of energy for the electricity consumption was successfully admired using the chemical batteries. For the large scale electricity generation as well as distribution or for transition, it has been understand that batteries are the more economical efficient in terms of generating energy or storing energy when it was consumed. [9] stated that development of chemical batteries for storing energy during electricity consumption rather than other building other storage system. The upfront cost for building batteries based on chemical energy storage system is much lower. Apart from that, batteries lose less electricity during converting electrical energy into the form of storable. The energy investment group develop the solar system that considered as worlds largest energy storage resources. In order to develop the battery storage project Australia invests more than $2 million, whereas other countries such as USA, Europe, Netherlands, invest much less rather than Austral ia. 2. Current Situation and Future Scenario of Energy Storing Project of Australia Current Situation Australian Energy Storage constructed the worlds largest battery bank. In Australia, the energy storage constructor facilitate more than 400 MWH energy storage that indicates it provide more than 100 MW (Mega Watt) using the chemical lithium battery technology. For the battery storage project, Australia invests more capital rather than other countries in this world. From the energy storage preview report it has been understand that one Australian Company name ASX wholly owned the business power [6]. However, the company working with the partnership of Rio-Tinto serves the remote bauxite operation in Queensland and expand the power during electricity consumption to 6.7 MW instead of 1.7 MW. Figure 2: Component of Electricity Grid (Source: [2]) According to the CEO and director of MPower energy saving through chemical battery tags the high market growth. The households of Australia are able to bypass their electricity retailers [1]. Soon the people of Australia buy electricity power from open market via the new technology that build based on chemical battery. According to the people of Australia, Canberra based company introduced the new technology that allowed people in storing energy and converting it for their daily uses. Apart from that, it has been identified that the Canberra based company installed battery storage in six solar homes around the region of Canberra and pilot their new developed technology. However, for this project, the Renewable Energy Agency of Australia contributed more than $445000 for the ongoing project of battery energy storage. Currently, more than 900000 projects were undertaken by the different companies in Australia [3]. The companies of battery based energy storage project such as Reposit Power said that they are the worlds first energy storage program in deriving the seat of energy storage. Future Scenario The Renewable Energy Agency of Australia evaluates the development of their energy storing system via simulation of their scenario baseline in terms of development of energy storing system during energy consumption in Australia. The baseline of simulation demonstrates that energy storing system via chemical based battery reduce the usage of fuel and energy consumption. Introducing the new technology, government of Australia can produce the low renewable energy penetration. The government of Australia was undertaken their energy storage project based on battery in 2011 and they continue their development project up to 2030. Apart from that, electric generation infrastructure of Australia especially the purpose of project of energy saving takes the necessity steps that describes the future economy of Australia. Australian greenhouse gas has a potential impact in the electricity generation. 3. Process of Life Cycle Management application for Energy Storage Readily Implementation Remote Electricity System and Fringe System: In order to involve the battery storage system for storing energy, remote system has to apply because the process or methods of remote system fully depend on the capacity of electrical generation. However, the local electrical generation was supplied by the diesel plants. However, it is a smaller system. The energy storage department of Australia need to move their energy saving life cycle towards renewable energy system. In order to achieve larger electricity grid, energy resource department need to apply the process of linking voltage transmission network. Fringe system hang of the lines of long signal network in electricity supply and maintain the voltage regulations during the times of difficulties [12]. Apart from that, limited infrastructure increased the vial costs in terms of strengthening the connections in urban as well as rural standards. Network Support: In Australia, the network of electricity serves the inherent market that considers high cost. Due to sparse population of Australia, demands of electricity growth higher and higher. Therefore, the peak demand level growth of the people of Australia increases each year in order to accumulating the electricity storing devices such as battery. In order to maintain the consuming devices of electricity, government of Australia has to apply the demand side participation. It will allow in promoting the technology of consumption of power. Apart from that, cost reflective pricing also has to apply in order to generate the possibility. According to the energy consumptions and changing towards the impact of peak demand, need to reduce the contribution of peak demand [7]. It will help in successful involvement of cost effective pricing in terms of generating possibility. Market Participation: In order to store the electricity energy, Australia has to comprise the market participation. National Electricity Market helps in starting the wholesaling market of the supply of storage energy to the end user or the retailers. Apart from that, operation of NEM has interconnection with the large global sector of energy storage and power system. Grid Stability: In order to apply the life cycle management for storing energy, Australia has to changes the supply demand in their AC electricity grid. They need to observe the frequency in each grid and keep the stability of each grid. However, through small scale injection and the rapid injections or withdrawal the lead as well as generation, Australia can store their energy in battery [4]. Moreover, the frequency control service provides the category of ancillary service that will allow in specifying market design. Residential Storage System: For applying life cycle management in energy storing system, Australia has to adopt distributed renewable generations in their residential households. This uptake can helps in concentrating the overall energy storing project more than fifteen years with the noticeable spikes [10]. Apart from that, involvement of residential storage system, help in avoiding incentives of power bills that live more virtuously. Challenges In order to apple the life cycle management process in energy storing system, Australia may face several challenges such as technical challenges, economical challenges, cultural challenges, etc. Technical Challenges: The major challenges that faced during the implementation of life cycle management process are consistent of control interface. Majority of storage vendor supplied their own storage management system that may risk for ongoing project of energy storage. For the utility battery, there were no standard used by the vendors in the new type of network asset. Coordination and infrastructure control for large network of storage will be limited during execution. Economical Challenges: Disaggregated structure of industry in Australian electricity can capture by one single party of all storage benefits. Therefore, value of this service cannot easily captured by the government. Moreover, through the above life cycle management system, financial incentives of electricity supply are not able to align properly. Energy storage insulates the deployment of electricity retailers such as peak price that convert the financial hedges. This type of hedges represents the development of market and provides the cheaper option rather than storage based hedges. Cultural Challenges: In order to develop the energy storage through chemical battery, majority of engineers provides unfamiliar technology in centralisation of AC system. Apart from that, engineers of developing technology for energy storage is unproven that decades complicated energy storing method and creates wide range of networks problems. However, lack of renewable energy vendor as well as storage vendors create dialogue for hybrid system and misunderstood the future growth opportunities, possibilities and requirements in terms of successful storage commercialisation. Use of UNEP Life Cycle Management process details Set Policies: In order to use the UNEP Life Cycle Management process within the core reading, need to set the policies of LCM. LCM policies are the important rings that works at all level of an organisation. Commitment and internal readiness of LCM helps in continuous improvements in the UNEP life cycle management process for batteries for energy storage. Organize: In order to make the project successful, renewable energy agency need to involve with initiative. It provides higher ambition and participates with the process properly. Survey: In order to involve UNEP Life Cycle Management, Australia has to survey about the available knowledge and environmental impacts of energy storage. For example, need to survey the reports of environmental and corporate. Set Goals: For involving the UNEP Life Cycle Management process within the project of Batteries for energy storage, need to set goals firsts based on region. Renewable Energy Agency of Australia needs to provide effort and determine the goal for the improvement pursuing project. 4. Energy Storage for Addressing Issues There are several types of energy storage that allows in storing energy such as chemical energy storage, electrical energy storage, electrochemical energy storage, thermal energy storage, mechanical energy storage, etc. However, according to the issues of current situation in energy storage of Australia, electrochemical energy storage will be fit. It is the best mechanism of storing energy. There are several devices involves such as battery, fuel cell, etc that convert the chemical energy into electricity. The device named battery has huge capacity of storage and density of charge. Apart from that, energy density of battery is much better rather than other devices. Voltage efficiency of battery is also useful and the ratio of output of a battery is much more efficient rather than other device. Electrochemical energy storage devices such as Battery allow in using two types of batteries such as non rechargeable batteries and the chargeable batteries. Chargeable batteries have large storage capacity and have the capability of recharge. The electro code of rechargeable batteries is able to precede the reactions in both directions. It facilitates to provide free energy in the non spontaneous direction that stored wide range of energy and supply energy during power consumption. Therefore, using electrochemical energy storage system, Australia is able to reduce the problems of energy consumption as well the capital investment for acquiring other resources instead of coal, fuel, etc. Fuel cell is also an important part of electrochemical energy storage. Fuel cell converts chemical energy into electricity. Using fuel cell, Australia can produce electrical energy from wind, water, etc. Different types of fuel cell such as electrolyte, cathode, anode, etc provides lot of benefits in producing energy and storing energy with less economy. Therefore, it will be the important method of mitigating issues for using renewable energy storage. Conclusion This report is analysing the current situation of Australia in energy storage industry. The situation of Australia is appropriate for the adoption of broad scale of alternatives ways of energy including batteries for energy storage. Wholesale electricity market also has to apply because it operates the western regions of Australia where people love more than 2 million. Therefore, use of natural resources such as wind, solar, hydro instead of fuel, gas, oil will allows Australia in developing a scrap electrical generation capacity. The policy makers of Australia are also serious about their cost of greenhouse gas. It helps in increasing the needs of Australian economy as well as the capacity of storing energy from the alternative sources. Reference List [1] W. Record Management for Psychosis and Schizophrenia - myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theRecord Management for Psychosis and Schizophrenia. Answer: Annotation: Administrations concerning the welfare and development of society are increasingly becoming more complex in order to keep up with the constant co-ordination with the public. This essay critically analyzes the research project on the impact of UK FOIA (Shepherd, Stevenson and Flinn 2010). Introduction: The UK Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) since January 2005 enforced the record management action in the local governments to benefit the authorities to meet up with their obligations (Johnson 2014). This essay in a way discovers the impactful link between FOI and records management with the prospects of policy managers, requestors and users from communities. Analysis: The research methodology the FOIA on the population counting over 115,000, conquering public sectors, to build a more effect review (Silver 2016). The research built a data-rich report, potentially compared to the other sectors, especially local government authorities as had underlying defaults. Research proved to be beneficial, majority lack in the record management, already exposed to high percentage of failures. Two specific methodologies, the data collection phase 1 focused on interviewing personnel in authority only to detect that it was more in a generalized form than precise records, evidently uploaded to system software to assist analysis of data. While the second phase mainly focusing on the requestors identifying three main categories, data collection was initiated. Understanding the approach of the local authorities is a priority in order to know the past management strategy and hence building up the newer ones. Local government concerns were a part of the conduct, wherein, the methodology in-sighted that it was not a formal procedure to maintain the records as needed (Worthy and Hazell 2013). This was a very important step as it identified that the information was variant from one authority to other. While in other cases, it was not even considered a priority. To worse, is the other results wherein, concerns were listed where there was no designated staff to handle the records. Few authorizations were in command of their records even if discretely but that was manageable. However, in this stage of the research, record management was observed in IT sectors and legal departments, where for former it was part of the technical issues while, for the later was a mere requirement in their subjected procedure more than setting it as priority. While th ere lays another comparison, new job firms had a separate team with concept of information governance. In such cases, there emerged two issues regarding the combinational effect of the FOI and record management team. Evidently it produced definite positive result when both the systems work together, rather, in contrast the second condition there lies a communication gap between these and henceforth, not functioning properly. Critical acclamation stresses on the amalgamation of both teams. Another impactful register of events would be the re-sizing and re-location of record-management offices, developing into smart-working, to increase business efficiency. Withholding to this another sighted issue was the act for data protection which in an obvious way got highlighted with reported cases of data security in relevance to FOI requests (Uskali and Kuutti 2015). This act again proved to be beneficial resulting in the installation of control-measures regarding the same. Regarding the FOI act, launched in 2000 and enforced around 2005, the lord chancellor provided enough duration for the organizations to prepare the individual record reports, as some of them prepared it by 2003 while critically not appreciated, some concerns delayed it and set as a last-minute task (Worthy 2013). The purpose of this act was to enforce a corporate approach towards record management to bear a positive result with suggested collaborations. In this, many collected data analysis insight the support from the senior-level officers hence helping the organizations, develop a sustainable corporate approach. Study on the effectiveness of the act shows that however initially, the subject of deliverables was unclear to many organizations but it proved to be manageable. A comparative analysis clearly can claim, among the volumes of FOI requests, some targeted the statistic for the current data while other information cited the request for the financial information, without any distinctions mentioned. Conclusion: On analysis of the research results, it is concluded that local authorities were able to bear the pressure to produce positive results to FOI department. Delays were not always due to the inefficiency of record management but due to the inability to identify the asked deliverables, as few personnel reported, they doubted their delivery reports. Some attitude adaption by the FOIA would make the task easier and ethical for organizations. Annotation: In accordance with the article on published reviews on the lack of record maintenance in community practicing centers, this essay provides a critical analysis on the series of events and its impact on the society (Beach and Oates 2014). Alongside the enactment of policies are analyzed. Introduction: Case reviews published on 2013 focusing on the inaccurate record management of the healthcare centers is of critical concern. Similar scenario, even in the National Health Service (NHS) foundations especially in that of Staffordshire with an increasing amount of failures recorded in record keeping departments deliberately reporting issues to perform the same. From reviews, it is clear the records are either solely due or in the process with deficiencies. In present world of electronic supports, as compared to our recent past, it is more beneficial in the management. Policy and practice reflect the nature of service provided. Analysis: The two prior aspects of legislation relevant to record management are the data protection Act in 1988 and FOIA- Freedom of Information Act in 2005. These two acts set the legalities to gather, store and protect information related to UK-patients, where, confidentiality is priority. These would provide the remittance to the damage caused due to inefficiency. The record keeping enables the inter-professional communication supporting the workers in the future progress (Beach and Oates 2014). This practice needs proper supervisions; a list of relevant acts from the government ensures the same. Good information governance refers to the maintenance of the records in a proper, ethical way. Second Governance reviews claim the concerns regarding new technologies and the communication, each health organization was appointed with Caldicott personnel- the head with the records. This proved beneficial, as it was a solution to many un-answered issues. In 2013 review, with all the preceding principles an addition was, data security and providence, only when needed (Weaver et al. 2016). Regulate professionals should maintain the confidentiality of the patients as far as possible with the non-regulated professionals while on treatment. Regarding information of patients, their consent should be a priority. Duplication of records should be avoided to maximum. With the growing electronic media to support this act, facilities towards an integrated system is sustainable. As recorded, a childcare program too is online, however with some national level online disputes, approaches towards local versions help to integrate on a level (Kern et al. 2013). In Scotland, decommissioning of the national access to the electronically stored information summary was beneficial to establish a local version with customized supports. Record sharing is a smart way to improve record management as the shared responsibility ensures efficiency for organizations (Kendall et al. 2013). The 2012 act for health and social care, collaborates agencies and organizations to broaden medical records management setting out a view to the structure for the stored information. Success is achieved, when supervisions from the members are witnessed. Greater collaboration and reduced duplicity are involved with electronic support (Miriovsky, Shulman and Abernethy 2012). Conclusion: On analysis, it can be concluded information governance is a prior requirement and that of the practitioner has viability beyond his tenure. Simultaneously, regarding the patient data-security should be maintained based on ethical grounds. Electronic system for data record is a perfect suggestive method to broaden the levels and attain sustainability towards management and quality services based on collaborative efforts. Strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises

Question: Discuss about the Strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises. Answer: Introduction: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabias banking sector enjoys a substantial potential growth opportunity regarding micro and small enterprises. The economy of KSA contributes over 90 percent of all the registered enterprises besides sixty percent of the total employment. These figures are drawn from the latest report released by the Aljazira Capital. The report indicates that micro and small enterprises occupy a strategic and central place or position in the development strategy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Saddi Soueid, 2011). The KSAs economy currently undergoes lower prices of oil. Accordingly, the significance of the contribution of the micro and small enterprises to GDP has is becoming clearer. The best approach to undertaking this is through boosting the micro and small enterprises sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Stone Badawy, 2011). There is, therefore, a substantial potential that micro and small enterprises give to the banking sector in Saudi Arabia. The prospects for the growing credit extension to micro and small enterprises sector remains a significant aspect of the economy (Dakkak, 2011). This would the first glance seems to be good (Dakkak, 2011). In contrast to the context in several advanced economies whereby the banks are shifting from over-leveraged positions, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabias lending institutions enjoy a firm capital sufficiency (Zamberi Ahmad, 2011). These institutions also enjoy liquidity ratios that theoretically position them in the best position for lending crossways the whole spectrum of the micro and small enterprises sector without the erosion of the respective balance sheet qualities. Nonetheless, despite the auspicious essential aspect of the micro and small enterprises proportion, the lending to this sector stays obstinately subdued. Whereas the formulation of the micro and small enterprises lending map for the MENA area is complexed by the fluctuating definitions as well as reporting standards, the Flagship Report 2011by the Union of the Arab Banks alongside World Bank discovered that just two percent of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabias entire lending was directed to micro and small enterprises sector in 2011 (Yousuf Danish Lawton Smith, 2012). Despite the above figure being relatives low, it might always be the anticipation in the small, corporate-predominated economies like Qatar whereby the micro and small enterprises contributes merely ten percent of the aggregate loan book. However, this is a surprising result for the KSA that has toured further down the road of the diversification of the economy compared to some of its hydrocarbon-rich neighborhoods (Yousuf Danish Lawton Smith, 2012). Even though the lending volumes stay modest crossways most of the MENA area, based on the report, with even vast economies including Egypt manifesting low degrees (at merely five percent ), economies like Tunisia (fifteen percent), Morocco (twenty-four percent) and Lebanon (sixteen percent) indicate the potential for micro and small enterprises sector lending in this region of the globe. Nevertheless, salient hurdles have been identified to account for such low levels despite the potentiality of the micro and small enterprises sector to the banking sector. These challenges must be addressed and negotiated by the banks before any probability of a substantial uptick in micro and small enterprises lending (Yousuf Danish Lawton Smith, 2012). The small enterprises have been defined by the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI) as those firms with between five and nineteen workers and with an annual turnover of between 1.3 million dollars and 6.7 million dollars. Firms that have more than twenty workers alongside a turnover of between 6.7 million dollars and 33.3 million dollars are regarded by the CDSI as medium-sized businesses. A great proportion of the financial infrastructure that underpins lending to micro and small enterprises is a comparative novice and barely just emerging from a time of insufficiency. Hence banks with customized micro and small enterprises management skills remain scarce sometimes and shall, therefore, continue presenting a human resource challenge in the short-run (Al Saleh, 2012). This challenge is further reflected within the micro and small enterprises sector themselves whereby the management of cash alongside skills in accounting frequently fall short of the needs of the banks that assess them as potential customers (Al Saleh, 2012). The financial transparency, however, improving, remains a major concern, and the absence of collateral within the micro and small enterprises sector remains a major threat to the slow loan book growth. Together, these factors are essential in giving a detailed explanation to the micro and small enterprises funding disparity which has stayed a characteristic of the KSAs banking landscape for years (Al Saleh, 2012). For a quite a good number of lending institutions, there has been historically little incentives for capital investment as well as manpower in the search of the comparatively modest returns provided by the micro and small enterprises facilities where large-tickets transactions or deals with companies have offered easy as well as consistent revenue (Yousuf Danish Lawton Smith, 2012). The Kingdom of Saudi Arabias banks hence has embraced a conservative position or stance to micro and small enterprises lending. Whereas it remains a usual practice for lenders who finance big contractors to assess their sub-contractors automatically as potential customers, in cases where such a connection is absence, make these banks to be reluctant or hesitant in credit extension. The significant of the micro and small enterprises roles remains a strategic imperative in developing the KSAs economy thereby making the challenge in their financing a nationwide concern. The micro and small enterprises Loan Guarantee Programme has subsequently become the principal mechanisms by which the KSAs government seeks to enhance the lending to the micro and small enterprises. What this means of funding is commonly regarded as the Kafalah programme established by the Ministry of Finance back in 2006 in collaboration with the domestic banks specifically to allow micro and small enterprises to enhance their efficiency as well as enlarge their respective operations. It has also increased the number of micro and small enterprises and allowed them to absorb the surplus liquidity of the banking sector. It has also been channeled to micro and small enterprises sector as well as familiarize micro and small enterprises owners with the process of baking alongside advantages of banking. It has also increased the participation of the micro and small enterprises as well as provided new employment opportunities to the people of KSA through the increased number of the micro and small enterprises. The Kafalah schemes operation has remained encouraging regarding its performance. For example, by the 3rd quarter of 2014, it had guaranteed a loan of 10,118, for a sum value of SR4.9 billion (1.3 billion dollars). This scheme has a had a consistent growth year-on-year where it began by helping thirty-six enterprises in the year 2006, and by 2013, the scheme was helping over 1000 micro and small enterprises on a yearly basis (Al Saleh, 2012). The scheme has also managed to secure the cooperation of the banking sector. Of the twelve domestically registered lending institutions, ten have made use of this guarantee in their respective extension of credit to micro and small enterprises, with National Commercial Bank, Arab National Bank, Riyad Bank, Arab National Bank as well as Al Rajhi Bank contributing to over eighty percent of the whole (Al Saleh, 2012). There is a further positive sentiment attached to this scheme. The Kafalah scheme has precisely played an essential role in providing the credit to the micro and small enterprises sector. However, in the run-run, it will be more desirable to have a more proactive approach by banks to give the best solution to the above-identified funding disparity. However, clear indications including an alteration in the attitude is taking shape (Al Saleh, 2012). The micro and small enterprises scheme success has permitted banks to enlarge their exposure to what is viewed as an increasingly attractive sector by the industry. Moreover, the increasing competition in the banking sector alongside the changed economic backdrop which is prevalence in the wake of the global economic crises have both acted to shift sentiment circumventing micro and small enterprises credit into more positive territory. The entire KSAs lenders currently uphold committed and dedicated micro and small enterprises departments even though their respective strategic approach has differed. For example, Saudi Hollandi, have created micro and small enterprises units as a component of their respective retail operations (Nasr Rostom, 2013). Whereas some have decided to position them within their corporate divisions. Nevertheless, crossways the banking industry, a common recognition of the days of downscaling corporate instruments as well as applying them to micro and small enterprises lending or extending retail-oriented commodities into micro and small enterprises sector, are outdated exist. KSAs banks have started the deployment of micro and small enterprises-specific commodities, and whereas extending credit to the micro and small enterprises sector, stays problematic, certain segments with the capability of being financed via cash-flow basis like suppliers that serve contractors on enormous projects, have proved helpful. Significantly, banks are further beginning to go beyond the Kafalah scheme to undertake this business. The banking sector is currently in the midst of enlarging their micro and small enterprises operations (Nasr Rostom, 2013). For the big micro and small enterprises financial model lending has remained fine, however, the banking industry has established a scorecard system that is used in their ten micro and small enterprises units nationally. Banks currently examine the micro and small enterprises banks statements behavior, business, the duration in the region as well as commodity offered to lend totally on a standalone basis from Kafalah, even though banks still give support to the Kafalah Scheme (Nasr Rostom, 2013). The above hand-on strategy employed by the KSAs banking sector has allowed banks to extend credit in hitherto underserved regions. This move denotes a substantial step forward from where the Kafalah guarantees were the chief factor in the process (Dakkak, 2011). The Banque Saudi Fransi created its micro and small enterprises until late 2013 and had observed a double-digit growth with regards to its lending to micro and small enterprises sector due to its more forensic strategy to evaluate risks particularly by character (Nasr Rostom, 2013). Going forward, in the presence of a modest micro and small enterprises lending level which the banking sector is presently exhibiting, a clear considerable distance to travel before the KSA economys smaller enterprises might be said to be effectively served (Dakkak, 2011). The start-ups, as well as firms that have rudimentary accounting procedures, stay locked out of the market despite the fact that the nascent private equity sector is starting to show interest in the former (Nasr Rostom, 2013). A concern that sustained depreciation of the prices of oil shall have an impact on the payment of the government to contractors over the future years may reduce the inclination of banks to lending past their comfort zone of chief contractors as well as well-established suppliers (Otsuki, 2012). Nevertheless, the green shoots of a micro and small enterprise lending platform are precisely visible, as well as banks have commenced showing their interest in the sector by developing the micro and small enterprises infrastructure alongside skills (Dakkak, 2011). Contribution to Employment and GDP The KSAs micro and small enterprises contribute about 33% to the Gross Domestic Product. The micro and small enterprises comprise approximately 25% of the workforce. The bigger proportion of the micro and small enterprises labor force in KSA comprises of migrant laborers (Nasr Rostom, 2013). In the year 2010, the root problem facing the micro and small enterprises besides the KSAs economy at large were rightfully attributed to the immensity of the oil as well as the public sectors that are the chief drivers for the economic operations (Nasr Rostom, 2013). The global contribution of the micro and small enterprises is a disproportionately enormous share of the novice job opportunities, specifically in such economies that have shown a firm employment record (Nasr Pearce, 2012). The micro and small enterprises labor intensity have been shown by the World Banks papers to be four to five times higher for the small enterprises (Nasr Rostom, 2013). The 9th five-year plan of the KSA has missed again its most essential target: a reduction in unemployment thereby rendering the economic planning an unproductive operation. As reflected in the recent plan, the unemployment would be declined from 10.5% in 2010 to 5% by 2013 whereas the unemployment as per the 2013 survey stood at 11.7% (Loayza Wada, 2010). The support for micro and small business is needed to assist in restructuring the big enterprises. This will be done by streamlining manufacturing complications. The micro and small business will be able to curb the monopoly of big enterprises and provide them complementary services besides absorbing the altering modern economy (Gopinath Upadhyay, 2012). The micro and small business will also generate significant gains by establishing a skilled industrial base as well as industries alongside developing a well-prepared service segment capable of contributing to the Gross Domestic Product via value-addition framework (Nasr Rostom, 2013). The KSA-wide mechanism or strategy for micro and small business is required based on one institution responsible as well as accountable to be in place (Nasr Rostom, 2013). The KSAs government should commence this with a single definition for what comprises micro and small business than the current four different definitions that are quite confusing. Moreover, about seven institutions are engaged in micro and small business financing besides the banks that run without any coordination (Dakkak, 2011). The lack of efficient as well as effective supervisory agency accounts for the worsening the challenge as closely seventy-four percent of micro and small business falling within the segments of trade besides construction. Such sectors have reduced value-addition rates as well as establish few opportunities for jobs in KSA (Crals Vereeck, 2015). Another major challenge that affects micro and small business is access to financing. In KSA, lending to micro and small business as a proportion of the entire loans pegs at 3% whereas in other emerging economies it is on average near to twenty percent as well as in advanced economies beyond twenty-five percent (Asad Sadi Henderson, 2011). The micro and small enterprises face lengthy bureaucratic processes and procedures besides licensing which is a huge challenge for micro and small enterprises. There is a need to alter the cycle of the labor market by shifting it away from its reliance on the low-paid expatriate labor force (Dakkak, 2011). The KSA government should educate the prospective micro and small enterprises owners via the Small Business Bureau on such areas as basic accounting, marketing, management as well as financial planning skills (Al Saleh, 2012). The KSA government also needs to mandate that twenty percent of its contracts go to the micro and small enterprises (Dakkak, 2011). The Supreme Economic Council of KSA should re-configure the micro and small enterprises sector. References Al Saleh, A. (2012). Exploring Strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises in Saudi Arabia. Martin Luther Kings Speech A Summary

â€Å"I Have a Dream† is widely regarded as the most memorable speech delivered by the American clergyman and civil rights activist, Martin Luther King. This address was made on August 28, 1963, to a gathering of two hundred and fifty thousand people at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. In the speech, King inspired the people to be steadfast in their fight for civil rights in the country.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Martin Luther King’s Speech: A Summary specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Many historians agree that this speech was instrumental in the eventual passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, an act that guaranteed equality among the races in the previously segregated America. In this speech, King addressed three major points on freedom, oppression, and nonviolent protest. The first major point made by King through his speech was that the freedom and equality of all Americans were gua ranteed. The speech referenced the abolition of slavery when it stated that â€Å"Fivescore years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation† (King 1). Through the proclamation, the African Americans who had been held as slaves for centuries were freed. As free citizens, King believed that they were entitled to the same rights as the white citizens. King noted that the constitution and the Declaration of Independence guaranteed the freedom and equality of all the citizens of the country. He maintained that the documents were a promise that all men â€Å"black men as well as white men – would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness†. The speech highlighted King’s hope and aspirations that the African Americans would one day gain freedom in the country. It confirmed that King was confident that the American people would one day honor the declaration that eve ryone was created equal. King declared that â€Å"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal'† (4). Another point made in the speech is that discrimination and racial injustices were prevalent in the country. This discrimination was undertaken based on the race of an individual. The speech highlighted that while America was a prosperous nation, the people of color continued to live in poverty. King declared that one hundred years after the Emancipation Proclamation, â€Å"the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity (1). The speech demonstrated that people of color were faced with racial injustices every day. That segregation was prevalent in America with some places designated â€Å"for whites only†. In addition to this, the speech documented the violent injustices that racial discrimina tion resulted in. These injustices had necessitated the civil protests such as the one King was addressing.Advertising Looking for essay on history? Let's see if we can help you! The speech also acknowledged that the Blacks were undergoing great tribulation in the country. In his speech, he revealed said â€Å"I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations† (King 4). King implored the people not to despair even when faced with this discrimination and mistreatment. The third major point raised in the speech was that nonviolence would be used to achieve the goals of civil rights. At a time when some African American Civil Rights Activist leaders were calling for violence, King emphasized on the need to engage in peacefu l protest. He stated, â€Å"in the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds† (King 3). According to him, protest could be made in a peaceful and dignified manner. The speech asserted that even when faced with violent opposition, the followers of Martin Luther King would not respond with force. King declared, â€Å"Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force† (3). The speech affirmed that all the citizens of the nation should coexist peacefully as brothers. King was keen to point out that in spite of the struggles that the people of color faced, the African American community should not distrust all white people. He explained that there were many white people who supported the struggle for civil rights by the black community. King declared, â€Å"Many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny † (3). The â€Å"I Have a Dream† speech by Martin Luther King proved to be a milestone in the Civil Rights Movement and it accelerated the move to achieving civil rights for African Americans. The speech highlighted the aspirations of the African American community and their conviction to keep struggling until their achieved their goals. The points made in the speech inspired millions in the country and they were able to steer the American nation out of racial oppression and into an era of freedom and justice for all. Women’s Right (Compare and Contrast) Essay Example

Women’s Right (Compare and Contrast) Essay Everywhere, regardless of color, nationality, religion, and educational background, most women found them selves at disadvantage level compared to men in most aspect of their social lives. In the work place women suffers from sexual harassment, at home they suffers sexual assault and in some cases sexual abuse. In general, women suffer discriminations that are often times a result of either religious or government implementations of laws or doctrines that is discriminatory. Thus, even in their own domain, most women suffer physical and emotional abuses. There may not have justifiable reasons for this women dilemma although some put the blame partly on women victims themselves in view of the manner most women dressed. However, it cannot be denied that there are many women whose skills, intelligence, and leadership are far better than men are and yet they are either victims of discriminations in the work place or sexual harassment. What does the different gender based movement say about all these misfortunes that has befall on women. Mainstream sources said that women are helpless victims of systematic discriminations in all aspect of their social life, while independent source partly blame women for their own predicament. Mainstream source tells us women are vulnerable and often systematically discriminated just because of their sex. The mainstream source noted that in countries like Ukraine, Moldova, Nigeria, the Dominican republic, Burma, and Thailand women are bought and sold, traffic to work in forced prostitution, while government action to protect their rights are insufficient. The same source reveals that in some countries such as Guatemala, South Africa, and Mexico, women’s capability to enter and stay in the work is thwarted by private employers using women’s reproductive status to keep them out from the work. This action according to Mainstream source is backed up by discriminatory laws as well as by discriminatory enforcement of the law. Not only women were discriminated in many countries, they were even legally held inferior with men. In some Islamic countries like Morocco, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, women faces government-sponsored discrimination that legally held them unequal before the law. These countries’ discriminatory family code nullifies women’s legal authority and bestowed their legal rights in the hands of male family members, while restricting women’s involvement in public life (Mainstream source). In general, Mainstream source tells us that all these discriminations and abuses on women are beyond their control. Women are helpless against all these abuses that some times even lead to physical violence resulting to fatal consequences, including increased risk of HIV/AIDS infection. They do not enjoy government protection against physical violence at home, and they do not even have personal rights. Mainstream source calls all these violence, abuses, and discrimination on women as â€Å"global social epidemics† and three areas wherein women suffers discrimination and abuses. These includes legal, cultural, and religious areas in which according to mainstream source, women are methodically discriminated against, barred from political involvement and public life, isolated in their every day lives, beaten in their homes, raped in armed conflict, killed for having sex, assaulted for not conforming to gender norms, forced to marry, sold into forced labor and denied equal divorce or inheritance rights (Women’s Rights). Therefore women discrimination should be abolished. Title VII of the US constitution declares the discrimination is illegal. Due to these offenses on women, some loose gender based movements rallied against gender-based discrimination. Among this movement is the anti sexism movement which denounced gender based norms that promotes inequalities between men and women. This movement specifically noted the discrepancy in the division of work between men and women citing that fulltime work belongs to men while part time work is the domain of women. The difference is that full time work gets high salary (Five Cram). What the Independent source say about women Discrimination Independent source claims that some women are partly to blame of their misfortunes. Citing a new poll in Ireland an internet source entitled Significant Numbers of Irish Blame Women for Rape, pointed out that a huge numbers of people of Ireland think that women are at least partially responsible for rape if she flirts with man. The same article contends that more people are willing to blame a woman for rape if she would go somewhere at night alone and dressed provocatively.   The survey says ten percent of the people think the victim is completely at a mess if she has had a numbers of partners, while one in three believes that a woman is either partly or fully to blame if she wears seductive clothing (The Curvature). The article remarked that However, despite of the recent public opinion in Ireland, in general, many women are victims of discrimination. In many occasion, women are portrayed as sexual object. Pictures of nude women are used by certain companies to attract potential male customer. Women also serve as the attraction in most bars and clubs, which categorized women as mere objects of men’s desire, or as something that men can use (Women’s Right). In many countries, women’s rights are ignored. Women do not have access to education, and are subject to violence, which deny them control over their own bodies. In her article entitled For India’s Untouchable women, Cleaning Human feces, Linda Lowen noted that in India, women are used as manual scavengers to clean up public toilets with no water to flush the excrement (Linda Lowen). These women have only broom and a tin plate to gather up human feces, which they put into a basket and carry with their heads for up to two miles distance in which contents often drip into their hair, faces, and bodies. Despite that the work is illegal and hazardous to women’s health due to potential bacterial and viral infection, yet this practice still persist in India. Lowen pointed out that these women were forced to take on this kind of work because of poverty and the failure of the government to provide alternatives. Comparing and contrasting the Sources In most of the arguments it appears that there are similarities of opinions between the two sources as both were against discriminations. However, the mainstream sources emphasized that in general, women are innocent and helpless victims of discriminations and abuses just because of their gender. They therefore call for equality and the granting of the women’s right on global scale. They call on government and all concerned to stop discrimination and violence against women. The mainstream source emphasized on the abuses, violence, and discriminations that women are experiencing on a general situation or may be on a global scale to which in many countries women does not have enough protection from the government. They reveal the helpless conditions of women perpetrated either by the macho image of men who tend to display their dominance to conform to this norm. Because of these the anti sexism movement which aim to promote equality between men and women emphasized on the soluti on to these dilemma that women are facing. They offered practical solution to abolish the discrimination in the work place such as a practical shift in the distribution of the task between men and women in which in their view, it would open door to many changes (Anti Sexism + Work) This source also suggest for the reduction of the averaged work hours which in their view, will help reduce women unemployment. In contrast to this assertion of the mainstream source, the Independence sources although they might also denounce violence on women, yet they tend to put the blame on women victims. They emphasized that in most cases of rapes woman are partly to blame for their provocative manner of dressing. They also pointed out that when women would go somewhere at night alone, they should be responsible for their own safety and welfare. Thus when they are raped, they are partly to be blame for their predicament. The emphasis therefore of the independence sources are on the individual actions and misfortunes resulting to misfortune. The independence sources tells us about the result of how individual women carry themselves, and the manner they dressed which are provocative to such offence as sexual abuse and rape. However, discriminations on women in the work place and elsewhere are clearly beyond the women’s control and they are innocent of their struggle. Domestic violence on women and s exual abuses are also beyond their capacity to control and that these women are innocent of such sufferings. Conclusions Women are the same human beings as men and care for the same things as men do. It is clearly unfair to discriminate women based on their gender or their weaknesses. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provides protection for the individual against employment discrimination based on sex, national origin, race, color, and religion. The provisions also protect women against sexual harassment and discrimination because of pregnancy, childbirth, and related conditions. In other words, although in some Islamic countries, discriminations on women is tolerated by government, yet the fact remain that women must have their own right as an individual human being and fellow citizen of this world. There is no justifiable reason fir women discrimination. The feminism quest therefore for equality and fairness is with men is acceptable as they are merely seeking for their own place in the society which long dominated by men.

Researching Ancestors Using the Canadian Census

Researching Ancestors Using the Canadian Census Canadian census returns contain the official enumeration of the population of Canada, making them one of the most useful sources for genealogical research in Canada. Canadian census records can help you learn such things as when and where your ancestor was born, when the immigrant ancestor arrived in Canada, and the names of parents and other family members. Canadian census records officially  go back to 1666, when King Louis XIV requested a count of the number of landowners in New France. The first census conducted by the national government of Canada didnt occur until 1871, however, and has been taken every ten years since (every five years since 1971). To protect the privacy of living individuals, Canadian census records are kept confidential for a period of 92 years; the most recent Canadian census to be released to the public is 1921. The 1871 census covered the four original provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario. 1881 marked the first coast-to-coast Canadian census. One major exception to the concept of a national Canadian census, is Newfoundland, which was not a part of Canada until 1949, and thus was not included in most Canadian census returns. Labrador was, however, enumerated in the 1871 Census of Canada (Quebec, Labrador District) and the 1911 Canadian Census (Northwest Territories, Labrador Sub-district). What You Can Learn From Canadian Census Records National Canadian Census, 1871-1911The 1871 and later Canadian census records list the following information for each individual in the household: name, age, occupation, religious affiliation, an birthplace (province or country). The 1871 and 1881 Canadian censuses also list the fathers origin or ethnic background. The 1891 Canadian census asked for the parents birthplaces, as well as identification of French Canadians. It is also important as the first national Canadian census to identify the relationship of individuals to the head of household. The 1901 Canadian census is also a hallmark for genealogy research as it asked for the complete birth date (not just the year), as well as the year the person immigrated to Canada, the year of naturalization, and the fathers racial or tribal origin. Canada Census Dates The actual census date varied from census to census, but is important in helping to determine an individuals probable age. The dates of the censuses are as follows: 1871 - 2 April1881 - 4 April1891 - 6 April1901 - 31 March1911 - 1 June1921 - 1 June Where to Find the Canadian Census Online Ancestry.com FamilySearch Historical RecordsAutomated Genealogy Library and Archives of Canada

Free Essays on Diverse Workplace

Its 11:30 in the late morning, it’s almost lunchtime. Usually at this time I call up my co-workers and find out who wants to do lunch. Four guys and myself meet up at a local burger place and shot the breeze, while filling our stomachs with greasy burgers and fries. We all have the same types of jobs and make about the same amount of money. But that’s where the similarities end. The faces in this group couldn’t be more different. One member of this lunch party was born in Mexico, another a black man from Texas, one co-worker’s parents were born in China, one white male of Mormon faith and myself. I never gave it much thought before, but at this one table was an example of the â€Å"melting pot† that symbolizes America. In this paper I will discuss how having such a diverse work force can be valuable and discuss obstacles that can occur because of diversity. When I first think of the advantages of having a diverse workplace, the first thing that comes to mind is conversations that take place during my workday. One of the best things about my job is that I can carry a conversation with someone while working on the systems that I am responsible for. The topics of conversation range from sports to religion, from politics to beer, and from music to the weather. If all my co-workers were Republicans who drink beer while rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and listening to Pearl Jam on warm sunny Sunday afternoons instead of going to church, the talk would get boring after a while.
